Requirements

TITLE: Assistive Technology Facilitator


QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree or higher

Minimum of 3 years’ experience providing services in the area of Assistive Technology to

individuals with disabilities.

Previous training and experience in assistive technology.

Ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with educators

Excellent management and organizational skills

Ability to communicate effectively with others and to work as part of a team

Ability to model and teach effective practices in the integration of assistive technology

into the K-12 curriculum.

Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.

Ability to travel as required for job duties including overnight stays.

JOB GOAL: To facilitate the effective and efficient use of Instructional Technology towards district goals.

 
 
Description

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the establishment of the Southeastern Assistive Technology Center (SEATC) and providing resources and services to AT team members, instructional staff, and families of students in Southeast Region schools.

  • Serve as the Consortium AT Team leader for 16 schools systems and charter systems in Southeast Region.

  • Serve as an Assistive Technology consultant to school systems in the Southeast Region.

  • Provide training to instructional team members and families in the use of AT.

  • Provide professional development opportunities in the use of AT.

  • Gather and maintain data on SEATC activities and support activities provided to schools systems in the Southeast Region.

  • Work collaboratively as a member of the Assistive Technology Team in each district.

  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of a website for the SEATC.

  • Develop and/or facilitate distance learning opportunities staff and families on the use of AT.

  • Develop and Present on the best practices on the use of Assistive Technology at local, state and national conferences.

  • Develop the SEATC program annually within the e-grant according to Louisiana Department of Education funding.

  • Monitor and assist in the purchasing of materials, equipment and other expenses related to the SEATC budget.

  • Travel within the  SEATC region and other LATI locations for trainings and professional development.

  • Attend professional development and conferences in order to stay informed of the most recent technology to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

  • Perform any additional duties assigned by the superintendent and/or evaluator.

  • Participates in and promotes harmonious working relationships with students, colleagues, parents and community members.

  • Attends meetings as directed.

Serves on task force and decision-making committees, when appropriate.
